Spring is around the corner and with the snow melting, I've noticed the ground is littered with trash.

With a bag in hand, take a walk around your neighborhood and pick up trash.

Together we can beautify our communities so all we see in the Spring is lush green grass and colorful flowers!

Blessings,

Stephanie

Sign-up for a Charity 5k

The sun is shining, birds are chirping, and greenery is peeking through the dirt giving me hope Spring is around the corner.

Warmer temperatures not only mean a changing of the seasons but charity 5ks are popping up everywhere.

Here are seven reasons you should sign-up for a 5k:

1. Raise funds for a worthy cause.

2. Physically showing support for the nonprofit and/or family.

3. It's fun! Nothing like gathering with hundreds/thousands of people for one purpose.

4. Opportunity to get in shape.

5. A family event that gets you outside, active, and disconnected from technology.

6. You'll learn something about yourself. I've been running 5ks for 25 years and each race I increase my mental toughness.

7. Snap a few pics and share your experience and the charity on social media. Nonprofits love to see their message spread!

I believe in giving to others and to yourself. 5ks are an opportunity to do both!

Which race will you register for today?

P.S. Today's challenge is in memory of Roger Bannister. He was the first person to break the 4-minute mile. He did so much for the sport of running. Today the running community lost a champion.

Blessings,

Stephanie

Support Small Businesses and Shop Local

Did you know there are over 28 million small businesses in the United States?

I've found small businesses to be more personable and are what help make a community great. Many small businesses are also involved in philanthropic initiatives in their communities

If you are in Northwest Indiana, I love Extra Mile Fitness Company for my running shoes and Aster + Gray for a gift or home items.

Also local to NWI but available online is my favorite face cream Pelle by Lauren and homemade soaps by BUN’s Soapbox.

I not only love all these products but I made new friends with the owners.

Today if you are out and about, stop and support a local small business! You never know, you may make a new friend!

Blessings,

Stephanie

Do Something Kind for Your Accountant

Tax time is stressful! Not only if you have to pay but for your accountant.

Our accountant runs a one-man show and does taxes for over 600 people plus businesses.

Our accountant shared how much paper and ink he goes through, so today I shipped him a package of paper with a thank you note.

Take time to do something kind for your accountant. I have a feeling they don't get much appreciation.

Blessings,

Stephanie

Celebrate a Birthday

Do you send birthday cards? Or maybe you have good intentions but before you know it a friend's birthday crept up on you and you have no gift or card.

Look at your calendar.

Is a special someone's birthday approaching?

What step can you take today so you'll be prepared to celebrate a friend or family members birthday?

I'll be honest, sometimes I'm early and sometimes I'm late but I figure a late card is better than no card.

Today's my niece's birthday and I got a card out early enough so it arrived on time and gave her a call. No texting on birthday's folks! Pick up the phone!

Who will you celebrate?

Blessings,

Stephanie

Make Someone Laugh

Several years ago we were in the Dominican Republic and every day we spent time getting to know the resort staff.

We liked the amenities but LOVED the people. We want to go back just to hang out with the staff. We witnessed a servant's heart daily.

This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. I'm not sure why everyone is laughing but what I know is laughter and smiles are good medicine!

How can you make someone laugh today?

Blessings,

Stephanie

Buy a Cup of Coffee

Anytime I'm with my mom and sister we are on the hunt for the nearest Starbucks.

Someone always picks up the tab. We don't keep track. It's usually whoever is first in line says, "I've got this!"

Today, whether to a friend, family member or stranger, step up and say, "I've got this." And pay for their coffee.

Blessings,Stephanie

Spend Quality Time with a Loved One

My husband worked close to 70 hours this week so yesterday and this morning we spent quality time together.

The number of hours invested in each other doesn't matter but how we are spending the time we do have does.

No cell phones.

But lots of dreaming, planning for the future and enjoying the now!

Who will you spend time with today?

Blessings,

Stephanie

Send an Encouraging Text

I recently started writing articles for a police magazine and I submitted my second article today.

My husband is my proofreader and after he read the article he sent me the texts below. They totally made my day!

My husband is as honest as they come and if there was an issue with my article he would have said so.

Even though this gift only took him seconds to send, it set my mind at ease that what I wrote was worthy of publication.

I struggle with confidence issues as relates to my writing. Being dyslexic adds a layer of stress because my grammar isn't the best and I make mistakes that I can't see. I proofread everything over and over! At some point, I say a prayer and hit send!

So you may not think a "kudos" text means a lot to someone but you never know what insecurities they are facing. If we build each up with our words, we'll also build up the self-esteem of others.Who in your life needs a little encouragement today?

Blessings,

Stephanie

Reach Out to Someone Grieving

Over the past couple of months, I've had friends lose parents, grandparents, friends, and pets. I'm sure you have also.

The loss for the person never goes away so they will always appreciate your caring gesture.

Here are a few ways to reach out…

*Send a check-in text
*Schedule a dinner date
*Send a card
*Make a donation to a nonprofit in memory of a loved one
*Make a meal

How can you help someone who has lost a loved one?

Blessings,

Stephanie
