How cute is my Pappy?! Growing up he custom buil How cute is my Pappy?!

Growing up he custom built all the furniture for my bedroom.

He was quite the woodworker, making me a dresser, bookcase, nightstand, and even a roll top desk.

Much of what he made he’d give it away to those in the community.

I loved that he used his talents and skills to give to others.

My husband started a woodworking business and crafted him this coat/hat rack.

This gift was a way to say thank you for his service in the military, in the community, and our lives.

How are you using your talents to give to others?

Do you have a pet peeve? I do. It’s when abl Do you have a pet peeve?

I do.

It’s when able bodied people take the closest parking spot.

I try to park far away so that expected moms, moms with small children, those that are sick, disabled, or struggle with walk, have a close space to park.

This is a simple gift we can give to someone at a grocery store, hospital, restaurant, and school event.

As I walked inside in the breezeway, a lady stood with one crutch under her arm and a crutch lying on the floor.

I got to admit, I hesitated to ask her if she needed help.

I’m not for sure why that happens.

I learned on my giving journey often times we make giving about us. What if they don’t need help or being rejected, I’m not for sure.

She actually did need help. She dropped her crutch and couldn’t bend over to get get it. I picked it up and gave it to her. What I thought was interesting is when I walked inside there was a volunteer standing right by the glass doors. She never came out to help this lady that dropped her crutch.

That’s a good lesson.

Don’t expect someone will help.

Take action!

I went on to talk to a lady in the bathroom (at the sink), ask her about her day, and struck up a conversation with two ladies while waiting for the elevator.

The nurse that saw me made a comment about “I’m not smart enough to do that.” And I am mediately gave her words of encouragement and said, “Yes you are smart enough. You can do anything you want to do.”

Our words matter.

The words we speak to ourself and the words we speak to others.

These are just a few little gifts you can give if you are out and about. Strike up a conversation with strangers, watch out for those in need, pass along words of encouragement, and take a parking spot far away.

Happy Giving!

P.S. I’m directionally challenged. I came out a different door and seriously thought someone had stolen my car. I’m sure the groundskeeper got a kick out of me walking around 100% confused.
Any time I’ve had to have surgery, I stop at the Any time I’ve had to have surgery, I stop at the bakery to get the staff some goodies.

I was so excited when my hubby showed up with these delicious sweets for the staff.

He knew I’d want to give them a thank you gift.

We heard they were gone in three minutes!

As a police wife, for 18 years, I’ve adjusted to As a police wife, for 18 years, I’ve adjusted to the independent life.

I know that, often times, the job comes first before family. Not by choice but an officer doesn’t control when he’s driving home and witnesses an impaired driver or when a murder happens that they must respond to investigate.

Over the years I adjusted to going to church, friends and family events, and celebrating holidays alone. It’s just the life of a police wife.

But years ago, as I went through IVF and a slew of other infertility treatments, my husband never missed an appointment.

Even if it was a quick in and out for a blood draw or ultrasound, he drove me to the doctor’s office and sat in the waiting room.

You might think that every husband does this but they don’t.

It was rare to see another husband in the waiting room with their wife. I was so grateful to have him by my side every step of the way through all those difficult years, that in the end never resulted in a child.

And this week has been no different.

The second time I needed to go to the ER he was on the shooting range. As soon as I texted, he left and drove home.

He sat hours with me in the waiting room and after I got admitted didn’t leave until way past visiting hours.

The next morning, as I sat on the phone with him, he walked around the house filling a bag with everything I needed to be comfortable.

And back to the hospital he came. For 10 hours a day, he sat with me. He noticed when I started to react to various antibiotics, called the nurses, and wheeled my IV into the bathroom with me a millions times.

Since I have been home, he’s only left once to get groceries and pick up medical supplies.

If you are single, don’t marry a man for his money, good looks, influence, or anything of this world.

Marry a man that will sit with you for days, through difficult times, making you his priority.

Our marriage has had many ups and downs but we have never quit. Never stop fighting for each other and our marriage. And we’ve never walked away from the commitment we made all those years ago.

Today, I’m so grateful for my husband who has taken incredibly good care of this week.

Who are you grateful for today?

I’m getting ready to start night two in the hosp I’m getting ready to start night two in the hospital.

An infection I received from the spider bite progressed quickly and I found myself back in the ER.

I’m grateful for all the texts, calls, and prayers.

I’m also completely overwhelmed. After a good cry I’m reminded God is 100 percent in control. I have to put all my faith and trust in Him.

The Bible is open in my lap and I’m flipping through finding verse after verse of encouragement.

Please continue your prayers. Thank you😘
Not all days are good days. At 4 am I woke up itc Not all days are good days.

At 4 am I woke up itching my arm. I rolled out of bed, stumbled to the bathroom, flipped on the light, only to see a very swollen arm.

I knew immediately I’d been bitten by a spider.

Within minutes the reaction cascaded through my whole body.

I woke my husband and told him I needed to go to the ER.

I had a few minutes where I felt like I was dying. It was such a scary feeling to be 💯 percent out of control.

I stood in my closet, thinking I was going to die before I could get to the hospital.

I’ve never been so grateful to be married to a police officer, who gave me calm instructions the entire time.

I was also grateful we live just minutes from the ER.

I gotta admit, the doctor wasn’t the best, but I had a plan once I walked out of the ER.

It’s been a rough day but I’m grateful for for my hubby, family, a doctor friend that provided guidance, an understanding boss, and so much more.

Life can change in an instant. Never take it for granted.

Last year before COVID hit, we were in the Dominic Last year before COVID hit, we were in the Dominican Republic (DR). Each day we spent time getting to know the resort staff.

We liked the amenities but LOVED the people. Within a few short days, they became friends. When we passed them walking around the resort, we'd stop to hug and chitchat. At dinner, the wait staff would linger at our table discussing the day's events, and we continued to learn about their life in the DR. Our surroundings were beautiful, food overflowed, but we want to go back to hang out with the staff. We witnessed a servant's heart daily.

Each day we'd see couples basking in the sun, only engaging with staff when they needed food or a drink refill. Yet, if you were to walk by our cabana and chairs, you might find us laughing and carrying on with our new friends. The picture shared is one of my favorite photos from the trip. I'm not sure why everyone is laughing but what I know is laughter and smiles are good medicine!

How can you make someone laugh today?

Blessings,
Stephanie
